  • Country 101... basic chord progression?

Yep I'm bored of the Blues, Punk, Metal... I want to learn some country. I usually use pick + first finger style picking but I want to use more.

What's a very standard, basic country sounding chord progression I can just take and try different picking/strumming techniques on..? Keep it simple, keep it real, and I'll work on the harder stuff after. But it's time I put my Strat to the paces she was built to walk

    Thanks guys!

same progressions as they are everywhere else, often simple crap like C-G or C-G-D, also a lot of added dominant 7th.

it's the way you play makes them sound country

seriously, just listen to country and bluegrass records and try to get the right rhythmic feel and learn the licks and chord voicings

lately I'm trying to get some Frenchness in my playing

Don't have any Good call though, as soon as I have some free money I shall pick the latest Brad Paisley or something. It's pretty cool chill music.

            Uhmmm, google.
Just like rock guitar has tons of intructional vhs videos and dvd's country guitar isn't any different. Plenty of stuff out there, just decide when you want to go looking for it and you'll find it. Good luck and have fun.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

              F C G D A E B

any group of 3 works for a progression, and make a circle diagram and opposite of the root note would work too.
