Riff Help

My band wants to play Wax Ecstatic by Sponge. The song itself is easy. The beginning is the f'd up part. No matter how I try, it sounds like crap (even worse than the original). Any riff masters want to give me advice on playing this and not making it sound like my 3 year old is playing it?

I know. I already tried talking them out of playing it. The idiots think it's a good song so it's up to me to make it work.

Is that the one with all the unison bends in the riff? Haven't heard it in a while, but I'm guessing that the bends are probably over/under pitch. Maybe you're just playing it with proper unison bends that are at correct pitch, making it sound wrong.
