  • Tornado of souls solo

Have any of you guys had trouble with the end of the tornado of souls solo.

I can't stretch my fingers further than fret 10 to fret 16 when playing that high up the neck,

But if you move up a a string from E to B string, it doesn't play right.

You guys know the part that I mean right. Near the end of the solo where is begins to go really fast, and you play 10 -16 10 17 10 16 etc on the high e string.

Does anyone have a link to some better tab?

did you listen to Marty's remake?

In that part he sometimes plays it like

    --16 12--12--16-12--17--12-----------
    -------14-----------------------------

    or

    --16 12--12--16-12--17--12-----------
    -------12-----------------------------

    instead of

    --16 10--10--16-10--17-10-----------
    -------12-----------------------------

You get the idea It's that way in the remake also.

          much better,,,

Now I'm stuck on the next part Doh...

There a point when you just need to put down the guitar, and step back for a day..the lines of tab begin to all look the same, and your eyes become blurry.

yeah, the arpeggio part you were just working on is pretty damn easy compared to that descending sliding lick at the end. definitely the hardest part of the solo for me to pull off. keep at it man.

For that part....tapping is a lot easy if you cant do the stretch...
However seems like you have nailed it

When I was first trying to play that solo, I couldn't do the stretch very well either - so I would just tap that part. I don't have a problem with the stretch now, so long as I raise the neck up pretty high. It's wierd how things like that change.
When you tap it, just pull off from the 10th fret to the 7th and tap the moving high note. With the right articulation it sounds just as good, or better actually.

That reminds me, now that I think about it, I do that same tapping pattern from time to time - I bet I picked it up learning that solo.

I don't think tapping that part sounds any good, you need to hear that sweep like sound (sweep sound on 2 strings actually ) between the b and e strings, that's the best part of it

Yeah, you don't hear the pick attack - but I'm not much on that anyway. Personal preference I suppose.
