Also... does anyone know what brand of guitar the black strat head is? Looks like it could be either some hot rod fender or a charvel with a pic guard?

That's like rolling harmonics. It's just doing hammer-on/pull-offs and dragging your palm or fingers lightly above the string, down the neck, to get those harmonics.

And the guitar Trevor Peres is playing is a Fender. He was endorsed by Fender and has played them for a long time.

I have always liked Obituary but I have never heard of Ralph Santolla until now. If you google him he just sounds like a really nice guy with a lot of compliments about everyone. He compliments the hell out of that song, I really like his style. I bet those guys would be fun as hell to hang out with.

Ralph has been in some of the best bands ever. If you like his work with Obituary you really should get hold of Deicide's last album "The Stench of Redemption". Ralph's soloing on there is unbelievable. Plus, it's a much better album than anything Obituary have ever done!

I know that kind of music is very hard to play and is very physically demanding but my brain cannot comprehend it. I have always liked Obituary because it always seemed they were a heavy guitar band and everything else orbited around the guitars.

I understand what you're saying about Obituary. They've always been more of a "simple" death metal band with pretty basic power chord progressions. I haven't listened to them in awhile, and I've only got their first four albums; Slowly We Rot, Cause of Death, The End Complete, and World Demise. I didn't even know Ralph was in the band now. I like Deicide as well, but I've only got their first three albums and the Amon demos before changing their name to Deicide.

And as far as recording, I don't know how to post anything online. I've got Ableton Live with my Line 6 Gear Box/Tone Port, but I hardly use it and haven't really figured it out.

Well then, you need to get about buying "The Stench Of Redemption" then! Best DM album in many years. Ralph Santolla's melodic genius mixed with Deicide's simply brutality. It's incredible.

Cool. I'll have to check it out. I've seen one video from the album and heard at least one other tune on the local college metal station here. I also have been listening to a lot of death and black metal again on AOL Radio lately, so I need to rediscover them.
