I'm the king of resurrecting old threads. I have almost gotten through reading all the threads on the site. I'll complete it on my next set of night shifts @ work

No, click tracks are boring. I haven't played it in a while, since once I "conquer" a song, I tend not to play it any more. So it would be pretty rough if I recorded it now. My band played it live before we broke up about 8 years ago

Seriously, it just takes a little practice. I'm not talking the leads here, just the rhythms + Marty's little middle eastern lick. I always have trouble learning someone else's solo, since there's so much nuance in there. I bet if you sat down and worked through the song for a couple of hours a day, you'd have it down in a week.

I suck at guitar so I can only p-lay the rythm parts of the Rust in Peace album. I've tried for 3 years to nail the Tornado of Souls solo, as it's my fave solo from ANY song... Alas it still eludes me, even with tab. My fingers just do not move that quickly

Imo, one of the best solo's ever, and definitely the best solo on the entire album. Marty is a genius, his use of (customized) scales is brilliant.
Well I waited 5 years to try it. Now I tried it and I'm pretty happy with my progress. But then there's the fast arpeggio part... my fingers can't stretch the whole 10th fret - 17th fret tapping stuff, so I cheat there. Haven't really started working on the insanely fast part after that, but I'll manage.

So don't be discouraged, just keep on practicing. And someday, when you feel like your technique has become pretty good, try playing it

                  Right,
the only thing about Holy Wars is playing it clean enough.
This can be bitching if you have a "slobby-fingers-day"
