He has been seeling this thing for years.....must be working? Opinions?I agree the slow down software helps ALOT as well... I have found the internet THE best source of info/teaching by far~

+1 - I notice that sometimes myself with my own playing.

unfortunately it's true in most cases.... with shitty gear, learning everything by ear and being on your own... that builds character... it takes longer time to improve technically but there's a lot more coming out of your guts.
music is a very old and primitive thing... it comes out from the deepest human instincts... well it used to be like that... your personality and the environment you came from helped to define what you are saying with your music.
now with all these ready to go kits and tons of easy material you can burn like a mofo in a couple of years, but it's all shiny outside and inside is empty like Santa Claus' bag on December 25th. With "Be a guitar god in 30-days" sort of material you don't even have a change to build some foundation. Some may call you a hot shit but you aren't going to playing something like "Machine Gun" anytime soon.

I don't believe that. It's just that with the internet there's an overexposure.

There's just as many (if not more) talented kids out there today, who can make music from the heart and from the gut, it's just that they're more drowned out by masses of other guitarplaying kids or w/e.

Yep, we also play my Uberschall..The Marshalls are MUCH more forgiving. With a slight hand adjustment for palm muting and such..he's good to go. With the fuggin' Bogner you MUST hits all the G spots just right..pings and all.

This shit is crazier than the 80' with all the exposure, popularity, competition, ect..due to youtube, myspace, guitar hero and ect. The popularity will fade once again..but there will be die hards..like us.

In the 80's all you had for the kids was MTV..they liked whatever they fed 'em.

                This is not very complicated.

I want to know what kids were taking back then! Jeff Loomis was insane after 2 years, Marty did Speed Metal Symphony after only 6-7 years, Becker was signed to Shrapnel by 15 years old (Yes..15).

It's also true that the bar is so much higher for kids today. Being able to play guitar just isn't that notable an achievement anymore. When I was a kid Jimmy Page was new, people were just starting to absorb Hendrix and a lot of people didn't take the electric guitar seriously as an instrument. In some ways there wasn't a lot of pressure around playing. It was pretty spectacular just that you had an electric guitar and could play Smoke on the Water. Now with all this electric guitar history behind us, and all the resources that are readily available, young players today have to really stand out.

I started playing a year and half ago with an ibanez gio series (lefty), which is constantly out of tune (that's how I learnt to tune a guitar haha ) and a harley benton practice amp. Well I upgraded to a line6 spider3 (which I regret the day that I bought it) and to an old kramer focus 2000.

Now I'm back using my ibanez since the focus has a crappy action and needs something under the nut or the neckpocket, and 5 months ago I bought a marshall head (6100LM) but it misses a cabinet

I ain't got luck in guitars, let's see if today I made a right decision in ordering a DK2l.

Bruno ..welcome. The Marshall 6100s are nice. I had a '92 blue annivesary head when it came out. Why did you hate the Spider. Did you try to play in a band with it? They are great for practice/recording..in a band or gig..nahhhh.

Ohh My freind bought a Kramer Focus when they came out in the 80's..It was a terrible sounding guitar. He took the floyd off for his G & L so it and collected dust..man, that was a long time ago.

Yep I tried to play with a band. And, I mean, the EQ is weak, the distortion is weak, and I am always using presets because I can't get the job done with little low end. But I'm getting a metal muff, I heard really good thing about it.

Man, even the floyd is crappy, dusty and make noises when I use the tremolo. Not to talk about if it stays in tune. After a song, I have to fine tune it. It doesn't completely go out of tune but hell...must be the age.
