  • Tapping?

Where do I start? I really want to be able to play long legato tapping phrases ala Reb Beach etc... But somehow I've never been able to figure it out. I can play basic 1 string stuff, but that seems to be about it. How do you guys go about constructing and executing one of these monster phrases?

Heres some inspiration to get you started....(although the 2nd one is super
hard imo) For a start, try a simple 4 fret spread, and then 2 frets above
your little pinky finger, tap with your right hand...ala VH.

    Heres a good beginning tutorial...

move onto the king of ALL legato runs below!!

Once you get more comfortable with it, try the tapping part in Symphony X's "Sea of Lies". It sounds impossible, but once you break it down into its pieces it really isn't that hard. It's a good Guitar Center lick

YOU BASTARD!! (I am literally laughing out loud here). That's my trick!!!!! I play that in music stores and people's jaws just drop. Then again, the guitarstore demographic for Belgium seems to be A LOT different than the US. We have some punk guitarists and the middle aged guy that wants an acoustic to play threechorders, and that's about it.

The best (small) instructional vid for tapping I've ever seen. It's more 'philosophical' in approach, so to say, but he's just SO good at explaining things.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

If I'm ever in Belgium, we have to get together and have a drink.

find 2 notes that sound good with simple hammers and pulls, then just move up looking for nice 3rd-4th notes. then just tap like a monster.
