I'm starting to get into slide guitar....

...like some of Dave Gilmour's slide stuff...... It is a bit more complicated that regular playing since you have to be so precise..... any suggestions on stuff to practice on? All ranges, from easy to complicated are welcome.

Slide is something ive been wanting to get into also.i was wondering if these guys raise the action so the slide wont hit the frets or its just a preference to do so or not.I love the Crossroads soundtrack and Duane Allman to name just a few.

I use a metal slide on my pinky. I don't change the tuning and I don't change the height of the strings for slide. I also use the whammy with slide playing.
It's a little different than most. You can use your other fingers when the slide is on your pinky. The slide and the whammy together is a Jeff Beck thing.
