  • 2004 Jackson SL2H - pic

So, I've got a new digital camera, and the sun was out today, so I decided to try and snap a decent shot of my 2004 Jackson USA Sl2H !

here she is...sorry for the fingermarks, I had just replaced the strings and polished the guitar, but I guess the sun brings out even the smallest blemish so I'll make sure to be more thorough next time!

Specs: stock 2004 Jackson USA SL2H in Raspberry Burst finish (discontinued, very few guitars made in this finish, most notably the stunning 2003 catalogue DK-1)
I've also recently replaced the JB in the bridge with a Custom 5, more suited for my metal tastes
I am the original owner. I had decided on a trans blue one when I saw the DK1, I was so impressed with it that I changed my order, and haven't regret it since.

    enjoy!

    - Rune.

    Congrats. Nice looking axe, there.

That catalog DK1 was originally mine. Sweet guitar, but I just couldn't stand the EMGs. Agreed, great finish. Too bad they discontinued it (with a bunch of others, too).

      That's a sweet guitar!

I have a question for you regarding the neck on the soloists...being that they are finished, do you notice a difference in playability in the solost and a dinky with an unfinished neck? (I am of course assuming you have played a dinky)

        Thanks for the comments.
I haven't played a Dinky, but my Ibanez RG450 with satin finished maple neck/fretboard has a smoother feel to it, but I definitely prefer the neck on the SL2H!
I switch between finished and unfinished no problems at all, I got used to the Jackson very quickly, and it is without doubt the best guitar I have put in my hands so far!
You just have to try it and see what works for you!

shredmon: too bad you sold it, would've been an awesome sibling

Dæven Rune - NICE! You've gotten some serious gear and guitars lately! Enjoy it! Mind if I asked how much the Jackson cost you in NOK, and/or where you got it? Highly droolworthy!

                  thanks for the comments!

I have owned the guitar since it was new, I placed the order with then-official-JCF dealer Kevin Easton of Easton Guitars in Texas (whose Jackson dealership has since faltered) very late in December 2003, it was done in only 2 months (they probably had a batch of soloists lined up ready for paint I guess) so I had it here in Norway in March 2004.

it cost me around NOK 11.500,- back then, including the case, insured DHL shipping, mva. and the whole nine yards.
It arrived safe and sound with the only damage being one of the four feet on the case got dented into the case.

But this was before price increases, FMIC buyout etc...back in the good 'ole Klondike days shoulda bought 3 of 'em if I had known they were this good

Great finish and flame on that guitar. How does the custom 5 sound in it?

Ron: the serial starts with U13*** don't remember the rest of the digits, and I'm not home right now but I'll check when I have time.

The Custom 5 sounds very good, if you search tech q&a I think I had a thread there comparing it to the stock JB.
Not a huge difference, but it fixed the small nags I had with the JB so overall I'm really pleased. It also matches the stock neck pickup nicely.
